Cultural Heritage and Society

CURSO

In-person

Target Audience

This extension course is aimed at educators from various sectors, cultural producers, artists, managers, academics, researchers, museologists, restorers, mediators, historians, curators, workshop leaders, archaeologists, architects, engineers, and technicians linked to the fields of education, art, history, and culture, as well as those interested in the course's theme.

Justification

The course is based on the premise that "understanding and caring" is also related to questioning, demystifying, and reflecting on how the processes of [non] heritage designation are constituted, as well as the historical relevance of unprotected heritage. It serves as a starting point for discussions referenced in normative texts from UNESCO, IPHAN, and IPHAN-SC, in addition to theorists and researchers such as Nathalie Heinich, Janice Gonçalves, and Andreas Huyssen.

The main aim of the course is to promote critical-reflective training based on the questioning of historically established power rhetorics in the creation of heritage, the constitution of identities and collective memories, and perspectives related to belonging, recognition, silencing, forgetting, and artificialization/deartificialization.

General Objective

To problematize the relationships between tourism, cultural heritage, and cultural landscape in a way that provides support to communities and professionals so they can develop actions and projects that enhance the cultural heritage of the region with a view to promoting inclusive, plural, and community-based actions.

Specific Objectives

  • To problematize processes and power rhetorics related to the creation of cultural heritage in Brazil and around the world and their public policies;
  • To conceptualize and contextualize Cultural Heritage, Tangibility, Intangibility, Heritage Designation, Inventory, Memory, and Collective Identity;
  • To identify norms, guidelines, classifications, and orientations linked to UNESCO, IPHAN, IPHAN-SC, and the Federal Constitution regarding Cultural Heritage;
  • To discuss reflections on public policies, processes of artificialization/deartificialization, belonging, recognition, silencing, and forgetting.
