Target Audience

This free course is aimed at individuals over 18 years old who wish to learn how to draw everyday objects with effects of light, shadow, reflections, transparency, and three-dimensionality.

Justification

Drawing practice is common among students; however, many face difficulties in drawing the human body, especially the face. This free course aims to address this limitation by using techniques that simplify the process in a straightforward and precise manner.

General Objective

To develop perception and skill in drawing through techniques and graphic materials for the production of visual arts.

Specific Objectives

  • To develop perception and skill in drawing human anatomy through techniques and resources that facilitate learning;
  • To represent human proportion and movements through basic drawings;
  • To develop generic studies on facial elements;
  • To illustrate adult and child faces from various angles;
  • To produce portraits from photographs;
  • To represent through generic drawings: hands and feet in different positions;
  • To utilize the knowledge developed to draw human models from observation.

Program Content

  • Concepts of drawing, great names in drawing, the right side of the brain, and sketchbook.

[title-dropdown] Module 2 - Basic Drawing Tools [/title-dropdown]

[content-dropdown]

  • Papers, pencils, pens, and erasers;
  • Lines: straight, curved, parallel, and crossed freehand;
  • Dots and hatching: tonal scale, light and dark.
  • Freehand training techniques;
  • Gradient filling;
  • Basic geometric shapes.

  • Light: diffuse and defined;
  • Shadow: sharp and diffuse, cast and self;
  • Shine, transparency, and reflection;

  • Volume, depth, and notions of perspective;
  • Ambiguous images, Maurits Cornelis Escher;
  • Anamorphosis.

  • Proportion, unity, and balance;
  • Golden ratio and Fibonacci sequence.
