Comic Books: developing your narrative in strips or a creative philosophy

CURSO

In-person

Target Audience

The course is aimed at individuals who want to express themselves through images and text, whether or not they have drawing skills, and wish to learn about the creation and production process of a comic strip, or even understand the creative process behind Comics.

Justification

Comics are increasingly present in people's daily lives. They have become a universal language that, through writing and images, can convey various meanings to readers. Literature, in turn, is becoming more integrated into other media such as film, theater, and comics themselves.

This workshop proposes, through a theoretical-practical activity, to introduce the world of comics, as well as explain the step-by-step process of creating and producing a comic strip, and finally, to conduct a practical exercise in constructing and adapting a small text into a comic strip. It also aims to work on this construction alongside the creation of a story, from each participant's perspective, in the comic format.

The extension course in Comics aims to provide the interested community with more knowledge about the creation of stories and characters, regardless of their mastery of narrative techniques and drawing production, thus broadening access for comic enthusiasts and their creative possibilities.

General Objective

To develop techniques and perspectives for creating a Comic (comic strips), so that each participant understands the necessary tools to create a visual narrative, divided into panels, with speech bubbles, onomatopoeias, and character development, working on a specific story with a beginning, middle, and end.

Specific Objectives

  • To theoretically understand the origin of comics;
  • To recognize the elements that compose a comic narrative (story);
  • To develop the creation of a character as well as its visual narrative;
  • To create a series of comic strips featuring your character.
