Target Audience

This free course is aimed at individuals interested in developing skills to draw the human body simply in lines and more complexly, using light and shadow.

Justification

During my twenty years of teaching drawing, I have always encountered students who can draw any object well but struggle significantly with drawing the human body, especially the face. This free course aims to address this limitation by using techniques that simplify the process in a straightforward and precise manner.

General Objective

To develop perception and skill in drawing human anatomy through techniques and resources that facilitate learning.

Specific Objectives

  • To develop generic studies on facial elements;
  • To illustrate adult and child faces from various angles;
  • To produce portraits from photographs;
  • To represent through generic drawings: hands and feet in different positions;
  • To utilize the knowledge developed to draw human models from observation.

Curriculum Content

[content-dropdown] Introduction to the discipline, assessment of prior knowledge, and human proportion – 6 hours

  • Human proportion, basic skeleton, and body movements. (generic)

[content-dropdown] Facial elements: (generic) – 6 hours

  • Drawing the eye;
  • Drawing the mouth;
  • Drawing the nose;
  • Drawing the ear.

The human face with its elements: (generic) - 12 hours

  • Drawing the male and female face from the front;
  • Drawing the male and female face in 3/4 view;
  • Drawing the male and female face in profile;
  • Drawing the baby's face from three angles.

Personalized portrait - 12 hours

  • Observation drawing of a child's face from a photo;
  • Observation drawing of an adult's face from a photo;
  • Observation drawing of an elderly person's face from a photo.

  • Observation drawing of a female mannequin torso from various angles with light and shadow;

Module 5 - Unit 5

Observation drawing with live model

  • Observation drawing of a live model in the studio.

Profº Me. Sérgio Honorato

Master in Design and Graphic Expression from the Federal University of Santa Catarina - UFSC. Specialist in Graphic Design from the Federal University of Santa Catarina. Bachelor's degree in Visual Arts from the University of Southern Santa Catarina (2003). He is a full professor in the Visual Arts Course at the University of Southern Santa Catarina, UNESC. He has experience in Graphic Design and Visual Arts, with an emphasis on Photography, Illustrations, and Ceramics, mainly working on the following topics: drawing, mosaic, caricature, illustrations, and photography.
