Target Audience

This extension course is aimed at individuals who work in classrooms, in both formal and informal settings, and who are interested in broadening their perspectives on art and its possibilities in the field of education.

Justification

The course Modernism and Post-Modernism in the Classroom seeks to establish a close dialogue with art and its relationship with teaching and learning as a right for all to access cultural goods. In a society that is in constant motion, art changes, and the teaching of art also evolves. From an interdisciplinary perspective, the course proposes to examine the artistic productions of the 20th and 21st centuries within the context of conflicts and technological and scientific innovations that have come to characterize modern and post-modern life.

The course highlights in the classroom the artistic productions of the 20th and 21st centuries, within the context of conflicts and technological and scientific innovations that have come to characterize modern and post-modern life, aiming to: foster reflections on the relationship between art and life, considering the classroom as a dynamic space from an interdisciplinary perspective.

General Objective

The Extension Course in Modernism and Post-Modernism in the Classroom aims to promote the professional development of teachers and undergraduate students, encouraging them to learn about and reflect on artistic productions of the 20th and 21st centuries, within the context of conflicts and technological and scientific innovations that have come to characterize modern and post-modern life, highlighting artistic appropriation and production as an interdisciplinary experience.

Specific Objectives

  • The course aims to promote the professional development of teachers and undergraduate students, encouraging them to learn about and reflect on artistic productions of the 20th and 21st centuries;
  • Raise awareness among teachers from different disciplines about the importance of art in and out of school;
  • Outline knowledge about the issues surrounding Modernism and Post-Modernism as an integral part of human history;
  • Promote knowledge through the appreciation and production of art, broadening perspectives on Brazilian art from the 20th and 21st centuries;
  • Ground the discussion on the relationship between art and life, both inside and outside the school environment.
