Justification

The course "Theater Outside the Classroom" is an innovative approach to theatrical education that focuses on taking the art of theater beyond conventional stages and traditional classrooms. This type of course encourages participants to explore theater in unconventional settings, such as public spaces, communities, natural environments, and even online. It challenges the traditional boundaries of theater and promotes creativity, experimentation, and unique interaction with the audience.

General Objective

To generate in student-researchers a new perspective on theater and the arts, aiming to strengthen a plural and active theatrical scene both within and outside the academy.

Specific Objectives

  • Immersion in space – Scenic box vs. Out-of-the-box space
  • Empower students to identify a bodily awareness in relation to each space
  • Broaden the understanding of various dramaturgies and collaborative dramaturgies for this amplified space.
  • Enable the practical creation of an aesthetic cell for presentation, discussion, and reflection afterwards.

Curriculum Content

  • History of the scenic space and the scenic space today;
  • Site specific – Can any space become spatial dramaturgy?
  • Building dramaturgy for an out-of-the-box space;
  • Why "out of the box?"

  • Dance - theater;
  • Creative experiences in the scenic box;
  • Breaking away from the rigid and televised body;
  • Dramaturgy in group scenes;
  • Viewpoints - Study of listening for active creation.

  • Theater of Vertigo and its devices;
  • Regina Miranda and her dance in the museum;
  • Lygia Clark and Helio Oiticica;
  • Creation of a small staging.

Ministrante

Profº Rafael Monteiro Rodrigues

Actor, director, clown, and playwright. He holds a Bachelor's degree in Theater, a postgraduate degree in Scenography, and is currently pursuing a degree in Visual Arts. He is a director and playwright working with the experimental group -Grupo Vazio- based at UVA RJ. He teaches Free Courses related to art research at Universidade Positivo and PUC - Curitiba (PR).
