The foundations of the proposal for the Graduate Program in Education (PPGE) are based on the priority areas for the University, the analysis of demand and the history of training, teaching experience, research activities, theoretical contributions, and the intellectual productions of the professors. The central objective is to provide training for educators in the practice of research and teaching in different educational settings, emphasizing reflection and critical production.
Initially offering a Master's degree, the PPGE aims to train educators for research and pedagogical work in educational institutions and other educational spaces. It prioritizes reflection and critical production through three lines of research: "Education and Knowledge Production in Pedagogical Processes," "Education, Language, and Memory," and "Training and Management in Educational Processes."
In the Doctorate in Education of the PPGE, the aim is to expand the investigative nature in the field of Education, particularly concerning language, knowledge production in education, management, organization, and the purpose of pedagogical work, viewed through the lens of the epistemological, historical, and political foundations (their different forms of grounding and justification) of educational processes. As a result, it maintains the three defined lines of research: Education, Language, and Memory; Education and Knowledge Production in Pedagogical Processes; and Training and Management in Educational Processes.
The Doctorate in Education, by integrating foundational aspects of the academic and investigative experience of the Master's program, is situated within the realm of Educational Research, particularly focusing on the investigation of the foundations and educational processes that support educational training and management.
The Graduate Program in Education (PPGE) has as its mission the development of knowledge in Education with a view to the work of educators in formal and non-formal educational spaces.
The general objective of the PPGE, with its academic and face-to-face Master's and Doctoral Courses, is to train educators to carry out research and pedagogical work in educational institutions and other educational spaces, prioritizing reflection and critical production.
The Graduate Program in Education offers Master's and Doctorate courses in the area of concentration in “Education”, structured into three lines of research: “Education, Language and Memory”, “Education and Knowledge Production in Pedagogical Processes” and “Training and Management in Educational Processes”.

Throughout its history, UNESC has become an important link in the society of southern Santa Catarina, helping to solve issues related to the environment, education, health, and the quality of life of the population through professional qualification at various levels of undergraduate education, in stricto-sensu postgraduate programs (master's and doctoral degrees), and also through extension projects in which community engagement is of central importance.
This movement of social engagement has its genesis in an institutional principle, whose imperative is the approximation between university and community, with a view to community empowerment, knowledge of reality, and academic-professional ownership in the exchanges that manifest themselves there. It is in the scenario of this community university that the PPGE is inserted.
The era of globalization has brought with it the need to integrate knowledge, practices, and cultures from around the world. In the realm of higher education, internationalization emerges as a fundamental pillar, opening doors to an academic and professional training that transcends borders. The Graduate Program in Education at Unesc, recognizing the importance of this aspect, has been committed to establishing and strengthening ties with international higher education institutions.
By fostering this globalized environment, the PPGE not only contributes to the training of more qualified professionals who are aware of global health dynamics but also reinforces its commitment to academic quality and innovation, promoting an education that transcends borders and prepares leaders capable of facing the challenges of an interconnected world.
