Incorporation Modalities of the Second Generation of Peruvian Migrants in the City of Córdoba, Argentina: Spatial Patterns, Class Structure, and Social Mobility
The experiences of migrants and their 'second generation' in host societies is a topic with a long tradition in social sciences and public and political discourse in various parts of the world. However, there is no consensus among different analytical and methodological perspectives regarding the direction, magnitude, and implications of these processes. In the academic field, the debate has revolved around concepts and theoretical developments related to integration, assimilation, incorporation, transnationalism, segmented assimilation, multiculturalism, or stratified ethnoracial incorporation to explain these processes. Much of the body of research and dominant analytical models developed have referenced migratory processes directed from the Global South to the Global North (Europe and the United States). However, there is a growing interest in recognizing the magnitude of South-South flows and the distinctive characteristics in relation to South-North circuits, both in their sociodemographic composition and in the normative and social contexts of reception. This project aims to take a comparative perspective on the incorporation processes of diversity (in an ethnic/national sense) in different global contexts in general and France in particular. In this context, a less studied area is that of the children of migrants or second generations in Argentina. In Córdoba specifically, research on the second generations of Peruvian migrants using mixed methodological approaches (quantitative and qualitative) is nonexistent. In this context, the objective of this project is to analyze the incorporation patterns of the children of Peruvian migrants in the City of Córdoba, Argentina. It aims to engage in dialogue and compare these patterns with existing knowledge in other migratory contexts to identify global patterns of incorporation and management of diversity, as well as specificities that allow for an understanding of the particular situation in Argentina. Specifically, it seeks to study how the children of Peruvians integrate into Argentine society, whether they experience social mobility, the place they occupy in the social and spatial structure, and what types of identity processes they develop. We must emphasize that this project is currently underway, and funding is intended to deepen publications and international collaborations. We highlight the relevance of incorporating a French researcher and a Spanish researcher with different areas of expertise on the proposed topic, which contributes to international comparability.

Caring for Poor Families: Maternal and Child Social Assistance in the Coal Mining Region of Santa Catarina (1930-1980)
The objective of this research is to examine the field of public assistance policies developed in the Coal Mining Region of Santa Catarina and their interconnections between the public and private sectors. From the 1930s onwards, the southern region of the state underwent a significant process of socioeconomic reorganization that directly impacted the lives of workers involved in coal mining activities. Social assistance and health played a central role in harmonizing capital and labor, implementing policies aimed at shaping a workforce capable of addressing industrial issues. Throughout this research, we will focus on maternal and child public policies, as in this context, mothers and children were seen as key elements in the socioeconomic development process of the country. Through a gender perspective, we will seek to understand how such policies operated in creating idealized models of motherhood and childhood that directly affected the urban lower classes of the region. La Sección Femenina de la Falange y Políticas feminizadoras: la assistencia social como transmisora de valores Morales y políticos en el Primer Franquismo
The general objective of this research is to understand how the welfare work developed by the Sección Femenina de la Falange Española (SF) during the First Francoism was used as an important political-cultural instrument in the indoctrination of Spanish women, creating and demarcating gender spaces for the broad group of its beneficiaries according to the dominant ideologies of the Spanish National-Syndicalist regime. Overall, the activities carried out by the SF were part of a series of other measures aimed at constructing a specific type of femininity that was useful to the regime. The gender relations idealized by the Francoist State were built on reactionary and discriminatory foundations, conceiving women as complementary and subordinate beings to men.
