Consultations will be held in October and November, in the afternoon
The Unesc School Clinic at the Araranguá campus is open for free nutritional consultations for the community. Consultations will take place during October and November, from Monday to Friday, in the afternoon.
The consultations will be conducted by students in the final phase of the Nutrition program. "This will be an opportunity for the community to receive free nutritional care while students apply their knowledge under supervision," emphasizes Professor Sabrina da Silva, who is responsible for overseeing the activities.
This initiative is part of the practical training of students with the community engagement of the University. During the consultations, students will apply the knowledge developed throughout their degree, with guidance and support from faculty.
"Each consultation represents a learning opportunity for the students and, at the same time, care for society. As a Community University, Unesc seeks to align academic training with the needs of the population through spaces where knowledge and care go hand in hand," highlights the acting rector of Unesc, Gisele Silveira Coelho Lopes.
Nutritional care
The experience in Araranguá expands the presence of the Unesc School Clinic of Nutrition, which also operates at the Criciúma campus with free and specialized consultations. The service integrates Teaching, Research, Extension, and assistance, focusing on health promotion, disease prevention, and quality of life.
The structure meets different nutritional needs, including pediatric follow-up, pregnant women, metabolic syndromes, ostomized individuals, and patients with digestive tract diseases. The consultations consider the characteristics and needs of each person.
In 2025, the Unesc School Clinic of Nutrition conducted 2,342 consultations, a number that demonstrates the scope of the service and the Institution's contribution to increasing the population's access to qualified nutritional care.
In addition to providing care, the clinic serves as a space for applied learning through a routine that allows students to experience real professional situations, develop care skills, and understand different demands related to food and health.
"A Community University also recognizes itself by its ability to transform knowledge into concrete benefits for society. The School Clinic fulfills this role by offering free care while training professionals prepared to understand health in a holistic manner," emphasizes the director of the Unesc Araranguá campus, Dorvanil Vieira.
