The José Antônio Carrilho Gymnasium at Unesc will host one of the main youth volleyball competitions in Brazil. Starting on October 16, the university campus will welcome the final phase of the Brazilian Interclub Championship (CBI) U19 Women's category, which will bring together six teams competing for the 2026 season title.
In addition to Mampituba/FME Criciúma/Radar/Unesc, the final phase will feature traditional teams from Brazilian volleyball, such as Esporte Clube Pinheiros (SP), Clube de Regatas Flamengo (RJ), Minas Tênis Clube (MG), Mackenzie Esporte Clube (MG), and Voleibol Nova Trento (SC).
The Mampi girls will debut on October 16 at 5 PM against Mackenzie. The following day, at 7 PM, Mampituba will face Nova Trento. On October 18, also at 7 PM, the opponent will be Flamengo.
The matches in the qualifying phase will be played in a best-of-five sets format. After this stage, the teams will advance to the matches that will determine the final standings of the competition, including semifinals, a third-place match, and the final. The championship match is scheduled for October 20.
“Competing at this level at home is a very special opportunity for our players. They will have the chance to play at home and count on the support of sports enthusiasts. Besides all the sporting experience that the CBI provides, we will have our fans by our side, which will certainly be an important factor during the games. We know the quality of our opponents and we are working to be well-prepared and represent Mampituba and Criciúma well,” says Mampi's volleyball coach, Luciano Iribarrem Carvalho.
The director of Performance at Mampituba, Filippe Spillere Vieira, also emphasizes the importance of Criciúma hosting a national youth competition.
“It is very significant for Mampituba, for Unesc, and for Criciúma to host a final phase of a Brazilian Interclub Championship. It is a competition that brings together high-level teams and allows our athletes to experience high-quality volleyball. For the club, it also reinforces our commitment to training and developing the sport,” he comments.
The women's volleyball team at Mampituba is part of the athlete training project developed by the club in partnership with the Brazilian Club Committee (CBC), through public notices, as well as support from the Federal Government via the Ministry of Sports and the Sports Incentive Law.
The project also receives support from the Municipal Sports Foundation of Criciúma (FME), Recreational Sports Association (ADR), Levve Orthopedics, URC Imaging Diagnostics, Hospital São José, Next Fit, Radar Companies, Unesc, Farben, Spillere Sports, Andrade Restaurant, Doce Pão, Hotel Zata, Sensata – Health of Thinking, and Unesc School.
