The relationship between evaluation, regulation, and quality in higher education was the focus of the participation of Professor Thiago Francisco, coordinator of the Administration program at the Graduate Program in Socioeconomic Development (PPGDS/Unesc), at the 50th ANPAD Meeting (EnANPAD 2026), held from September 23 to 25 in Fortaleza, Ceará. The event brought together researchers from different institutions for the presentation of studies, scientific debates, and networking in the field of Administration and organizational studies.
Thiago chaired the panel "Contemporary Challenges in Higher Education," dedicated to the transformations and challenges faced by higher education institutions. In the scientific program, the professor presented the paper "Overlapping Concepts of Institutional Evaluation, Regulatory Evaluation, and Quality Assurance in Higher Education: Toward an Integrated Model of Academic Regulation" during the session "Evaluation in Perspective."
"The study addresses the relationships between institutional evaluation, regulatory evaluation, and quality assurance, proposing an integrated understanding of the concepts in the field of academic regulation," he explains.
The research is related to the professor's work at the University itself. In addition to teaching in the Graduate Program in Socioeconomic Development (PPGDS) and coordinating the Administration and International Business Administration courses, Thiago also coordinates the Self-Assessment Commission (CPA) and the Institutional Evaluation Sector at Unesc. His work involves evaluation processes, planning, and decision-making aimed at institutional improvement.
"EnANPAD allows us to put our research into debate, learn from researchers and editors, and, most importantly, return to the University with new references to enhance what we do. The discussions on evaluation, regulation, and quality directly relate to our institutional work, while the workshops on scientific publishing provide insights that can be shared with researchers and students," he emphasizes.
The EnANPAD program also included activities focused on the development and publication of research. Francisco participated in the RAC & BAR Paper Development Workshop (PDW), led by Paula Chimenti from RAC and COPPEAD/UFRJ, and Ricardo Limongi França Coelho from BAR, PPGADM/UFG, and PPGAdm/UFU.
The workshop addressed strategies for developing scientific articles and preparing papers with publication potential in leading journals in the field of Administration.
Another activity was the workshop "Publishing Strategically: Indexers, Metrics, and Rankings in the Field of Administration," conducted by Ronaldo de Oliveira Santos Jhunior from PPGA/FEA-USP. The meeting discussed indexers, bibliometric indicators, and classification systems used in the evaluation and positioning of scientific journals.
Participation in the meeting also enhances the dialogue of PPGDS/Unesc with researchers, programs, and scientific networks. The participation brings together research, teaching, evaluation, and university management in a shared space for the production and circulation of knowledge.
