The professional experience gained during his undergraduate studies in Civil Engineering at Unesc helped prepare Fernando Zomer Alves for the challenges of entrepreneurship. A graduate of Unesc, he is involved in the family succession at Eza Engenharia and founded Easy Alert, a startup that currently serves two thousand condominiums in Brazil.
During his studies, he balanced work at the company with evening classes, a routine that allowed him to apply academic knowledge in practice and bring market situations into classroom discussions, aligning his education with the demands of the profession.
"Working in the field throughout my entire undergraduate program was crucial for my growth. This made my development much faster because I could put into practice at the company what I learned at the University and bring to the University what I experienced at the company," he emphasizes.
The diversity of the professors' profiles was another distinguishing feature of the engineer's education. Instructors with technical experience and professionals close to the job market presented different perspectives on Civil Engineering, from legislation to project execution.
"Sometimes, people really want to become entrepreneurs, but entrepreneurship also requires specific knowledge, as one cannot sustain without the other. It doesn't help to want to start a construction company without a solid foundation in calculations and mastery of engineering fundamentals," he states.
The proximity to his hometown, family, and business influenced his choice of Unesc. The connection with the Institution continues after completing the course, through contact with faculty and participation in academic activities, allowing for the sharing of market experiences, contributing to lectures, and opening internship opportunities for students. "It's a way to give back, bringing interns, participating in lectures, and sharing our market vision," he highlights.
The demanding routine of Civil Engineering helped develop the ability to balance different responsibilities. For Fernando, managing work, studies, exams, and academic submissions during his undergraduate studies contributed to his preparation for leading expanding companies.
"Easy Alert started to be developed at night, alongside the professional activities of the partners. From the beginning, the startup grew to serve two thousand condominiums in Brazil. At Eza Engenharia, the volume of projects increased approximately fivefold over the course of its journey. The higher education was a very solid foundation for understanding what I was capable of delivering, both at the company and in my studies," he assesses.
The experience also reinforces the importance of market contact during education. The graduate considers working in the field an opportunity to understand the professional routine before completing the course and to develop skills that go beyond academic content.
The new advertising campaign from Unesc is already out in the streets, on the radio, on TV stations, and on social media, featuring stories like Fernando's. Created in partnership between the University’s Press, Communication, Commercial and Marketing Advisory (Aicom), with the expertise of Agência Cacto and the guidance of Institutional management, the pieces highlight students and graduates.
Those who wish to write the next chapter of their journey can now secure a spot at Unesc, which is open for enrollment for 2027. The University offers over 60 undergraduate programs, both in-person and online, with various admission methods and scholarship and student financing programs. Information about courses and selection processes is available on the website unesc.net or via WhatsApp at (48) 99915-0433.
