Unesc Medical Student Joins Criciúma Academy of Letters

Unesc Medical student Artur Mendes Vittoria de Souza became a member of the Criciúma Academy of Letters last Friday (October 2). Elected in the second semester of this year, Artur took office last Friday (October 2), with Archimedes Naspolini Filho as his sponsor. He occupies chair number 33, which is dedicated to the musician and writer Plácido Pizetti.

The moment of great significance was celebrated by the academic, who has been connected to the literary world since childhood. "I have been writing since I can remember. Even when I didn't know how to write properly, I would use a pencil and pretend to be drawing connected letters. My literary production truly began around the age of 14 through literary contests, especially in our region," he recalls.

By occupying Plácido's chair, a musician, composer, storyteller, businessman, writer, and father, Artur feels inspired by the example left by his colleague regarding the transformative power of words. "This really catches my attention as it shows how art can change the reality of young people. He demonstrated that culture has an impact on society, and I find that very beautiful," he emphasizes.

According to Artur, the new mission is a significant commitment made to his fellow Academy members. "May I, humbly, be a bridge between worlds, learn from my peers, and honor the trust placed in us," he states.

Also inaugurated on this occasion were the newest immortals Carolina Meyer Silvestre, a graduate of Unesc High School; Cheiene Damázio Uggioni, a graduate in Geography and a master's degree holder in Environmental Sciences, a teacher at Unesc High School; Cristiane Maccari Uliano Zappellini, a graduate in Pedagogy and a master's degree holder in Education from Unesc; and Daniele Naspolini Bastos and Henrique Limongi Filho.
